Dr. Beatrice Moore is a visionary educator, minister, author, and entrepreneur with over four decades of experience dedicated to transforming lives through education, faith, and community service. A Trailblazer in Mathematics Education

Dr. Moore began her career in mathematics education in 1980, leveraging her Texas Lifetime Secondary Teacher Certifications in Mathematics, Spanish, and Journalism to support improved instruction and equity-focused initiatives. In 2003, she founded Luchin Educational Consultants, a company dedicated to advancing quality education for underrepresented students.

Her extensive work includes partnerships with state, national, and international organizations such as the Texas Education Agency, College Board’s Equity 2000 project, and Knowledgehook, a Canadian mathematics technology platform. Dr. Moore has contributed to numerous professional development initiatives, including the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) Mathematics Writing Teams, aligning state standards with effective teaching practices.

As a thought leader, she was a contributor on  Insights into Algebra I, video lesson commentaries produced by the Annenberg Channel and Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics,  authored Giving Math Meaning, and other pivotal works, blending her passion for mathematics with a focus on equity-centered instruction. Her contributions extend to secondary mathematics textbooks for McGraw-Hill Publishing and program consultation with Voyager Sopris Learning.

Leadership in Professional Organizations

Dr. Moore’s volunteer work includes serving as Executive Director and past President of the Benjamin Banneker Association, Inc., membership on the EFA+Math Equity Advisory Board, and advisory roles with the Rand Corporation. She has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Benjamin Banneker Lifetime Achievement Award and the Texas Council of Teachers of Mathematics Leadership Award for her groundbreaking contributions to education.

Dr. Moore’s ministry extends her influence beyond education. As a leader at Gospel Tabernacle Houston, she coordinates the Women’s Ministry and hosts weekly Bible study sessions. She is also Co-Executive Director of the Secret Place Book Club/SegWAY International Ministries, supporting activities across major U.S. cities.

Her faith-based writings include her chapter, Prayers from a Woman on the Edge: How I Let Go and Let God!, in the anthology Journey to Ignite, and her book, I am a Woman of GRIT. These works chronicle her spiritual journey and highlight the transformative power of prayer.

A skilled chef, Dr. Moore is the award-winning author of Pinch-Dash-Done: A Gateway to Flavorful Recipes and its sequel Pinch-Dash-Done: Make it Seasonal. Her cooking classes, hosted in partnership with AARP, and her TV show, Pinch-Dash-Done, Cooking with Friends, broadcast on Everyday Woman TV, promote healthy eating and strategies to combat food insecurity. Proceeds from her cookbook sales support the Houston Food Bank, further demonstrating her dedication to service.

Dr. Moore holds a bachelor’s degree from Prairie View A&M University, graduate studies in Curriculum and Instruction from Tarleton State University, and an Honorary Doctorate in Business from TIUA. Her additional certifications include business coaching, professional coaching training, and specialized mathematics training programs through the Texas Education Agency.
