NHS moves to Bristol City Council Offices to save £2m

Moving NHS staff to city council offices could help save up to £2m a year.

The Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board and NHS South West will now be based at the Bristol City Council offices in Temple Street.

Since the pandemic many council staff have been working remotely, which has created space for NHS staff.

A Bristol City Council spokesperson said: “The lease has delivered more than £900,000 in additional income and savings for the current financial year and represents the first stage of agreeing commercial lets for 100 Temple Street.”

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the Citizen Service Point, where residents can receive advice, pay bills and access a computer, will remain at 100 Temple Street.

There is still refurbishment work to be completed, however NHS staff have already moved from Marlborough Street.

Work on the new reception area should be completed in November, and there will also be improvements to the front ramp and steps and rear car park.

Director of property, assets and infrastructure Pete Anderson told the council’s strategy and resources policy committee on Monday, September 16: “The fit-out is going really well.”
