Kev,” The Reverend Dr. Kevin Kitrell Ross is a dynamic spiritual leader, social justice advocate, author, and global bridge-builder whose mission is to inspire people to awaken to their highest potential and be a force for good in the world. As the Senior Minister of Unity of Sacramento International Spiritual Center, Rev. Kev has dedicated his life to fostering peace, prosperity, and unconditional love while addressing some of society’s most pressing challenges.

A Leader on the Frontlines of Justice and Advocacy

Rev. Kev’s activism has taken him to the heart of the nation’s most significant civil and human rights movements. He was among the faith leaders arrested while advocating for justice following the killing of Stephon Clark, a tragic event that catalyzed the passage of AB392, the strictest police use-of-force law in the United States.

He has stood with over 1,000 protesters and faith leaders at the U.S. southern border, demanding the release of children from detention centers and their reunification with families. Rev. Kev’s compassion also extended to a Yemeni mother, aiding in the temporary lifting of the Muslim travel ban so she could reunite with her dying son in San Francisco.

A Respected Spiritual Advisor and Global Connector

Rev. Kev’s influence transcends borders. He has shared stages with luminaries such as His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Deepak Chopra, Ella Gandhi, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Marianne Williamson. His leadership has taken him to five continents, with his work chronicled in Mission Tanzania: An Ecotouristic Pilgrimage in Spirit, Service, and Safari, a documentary featured at the 2023 Harvard Divinity School Film Festival.

Education and Leadership Training

A proud Morehouse College graduate, Rev. Kev also earned a Master of Religion and Public Life degree from Harvard Divinity School, where he developed Camp Courage Academy, a curriculum equipping faith leaders to become engaged social change agents. The Academy is slated to launch its first cohort at Harvard in the summer of 2024.

In 2023, Rev. Kev received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Trinity International University of Ambassadors, adding to his extensive list of accolades, including induction into the Martin Luther King, Jr. Clergy Hall of Honor at Morehouse.

A Prolific Author and Creator

Rev. Kev is the author of transformative works, including The Designer Life: Distinctions for Living Life By Design and Not by Default and Breathing Space: A 52-Week Meditation Journey for Centered, Soulful, and Successful Living. His children’s books, The Optimistic Seed: A Story of Resilience and Hug Your Children, offer guidance and comfort to young readers.

During the pandemic, he created the online character “Khavon” to support children and families in building resilience, earning media attention from ABC, Fox, and the upcoming godTalk documentary premiering at the Smithsonian African American Museum of History and Culture.

Rev. Kev has been honored with numerous awards and recognitions. Among his highest honors are delivering the opening prayer for a session of the U.S. House of Representatives and presenting the Gandhi-Award for Nonviolence to former South African President Nelson Mandela.
