Veteran Australian coach Brian Smith might have left Wakefield after a disappointing start to the 2016 Super League season, but his legacy has played a positive part in the development of one of the club’s best young talents.
Winger Tom Johnstone has been a shining light for Trinity, building on his 2015 promise to become one of the most prolific finishers in Super League.
His form has coincided with an upturn in results under new coach Chris Chester, and Johnstone told the BBC Super League Show his relationship with both coaches has been pivotal.
