“Watching the Commonwealth Games this year, seeing the big crowds and how well GB swimmers swam, it gives you a really positive outlook on the pool so hopefully we’ll have that extra bit of support.”
Mullen also reckons a home crowd can help give Team GB the edge, and he hopes the event will boost the sport’s profile.
“The more sporting events we have in Glasgow the more we can raise the profile of the sport and build a legacy,” the 18-year-old European champion said.
“We had the Commonwealth Games and that was great for Glasgow, I was really proud of my home city, and hopefully we can keep building on that for the future.
“It’s a massive confidence boost knowing people are there to cheer you on and you have to use it to your advantage.”
Across seven days of competition at the IPC event, there will be 172 medals available with athletes competing across 14 different classes in distances ranging from 50m-400m.
The British Para-Swimming Team is also likely to include Paralympic, World and Commonwealth champion Ollie Hynd, and seven-time European champion Stephanie Slater.
Some of the world’s best para-swimmers, including 12-time Paralympic gold medallist Jess Long of the USA, Australia’s eight-time Paralympic champion Jacqueline Freney, and three-time Paralympic champion Andre Brasil from Brazil are also expected to attend.
