Nottingham Forest: Nuno Espirito Santo wants to build on Steve Cooper’s legacy

Nuno was asked if he would use the January transfer window to improve the squad, which he saw at close quarters in a morning training session.
“Look, the only ones that can and should improve things, it’s those that are here now,” he said.
“What I expect is the players that are here in the building solve the situation – then we think about the rest. But now it’s who’s inside that’s important.
“To compete in the Premier League is very hard. I think Forest started well this season. Then for different situations things didn’t go well. That’s why I am here.
“What I saw today really gives me the assurance we are in a good way in terms of togetherness.
“The players work together, they respect each other. That is the first step.
“I never managed a squad of this size. That will be a challenge. But a chance for everybody.”
Nuno has not managed in the Premier League since he was sacked by Tottenham after only four months in charge in 2021.
He admitted he took over Spurs at the wrong time.
“Things didn’t work out for many situations there,” said Nuno.
“I was honoured to have the chance to manage at Spurs, maybe it wasn’t the right moment for me to go there.
“But now is a new chapter. Forest is nothing to do with Wolves or Spurs.”
