Jersey disability charity Les Amis has appointed a new chairman of the board of trustees after the retirement of the previous chairman.

Leslie Norman replaces Stewart Mourant who served as the chairman of trustees.

Mr Norman was this year made an MBE after he was included in the King’s birthday honours list.

Paul Routier, from Les Amis, said the charity had “grown into one of Jersey’s largest and most loved charities”.

He thanked Mr Mourant and said the charity was “so grateful for all of his energy and wisdom over the years”.

The charity has also appointed a new non-executive director and two new trustees.

Cormac Timothy, a former headteacher, has joined the charity’s board of directors having previously spent 10 years as a trustee of Autism Jersey.

Sarah Jemson, a care worker and a former brain injury co-ordinator for Jersey’s government, and Vycki Price, a former director of the Jersey Financial Services Commission, have both become trustees.
